Terms of Service

Last updated: October 12, 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to MATONE (Materials + ONE), a computational materials science platform. By accessing or using our services — including the web interface, API endpoints, MCP tools, cloud compute management, and AI-assisted research workflows — you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.

If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must not access or use MATONE. We encourage you to read these terms carefully before creating an account or submitting any computational jobs.

2. Who We Are

MATONE is developed and operated by a team specializing in AI-driven scientific computing solutions. For questions regarding these terms or our services, please contact us at support@matone.one.

3. Account Creation and Access

To access MATONE's full capabilities — including job submission, cloud compute provisioning, and conversation history — you must create an account. By registering, you represent and warrant that:

  • You are at least 18 years of age or the age of majority in your jurisdiction.
  • All registration information you provide is accurate, current, and complete.
  • You will maintain the confidentiality of your account credentials and are solely responsible for all activities that occur under your account.
  • You will use the platform responsibly and in accordance with these terms, our Usage Policy, and all applicable laws.

4. Use of Services

MATONE provides AI-assisted workflows for density functional theory (DFT), molecular dynamics (MD), and related computational materials science tasks. You agree to the following conditions:

  • You will use MATONE exclusively for lawful scientific research, education, and engineering purposes.
  • You will not abuse computational resources, including submitting jobs designed to consume excessive resources or circumventing usage quotas.
  • You will not attempt to interfere with or disrupt MATONE's infrastructure or other users' running calculations.
  • You will not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of MATONE's software.
  • You will not use MATONE to design or simulate materials intended for weapons of mass destruction or hazardous substances.
  • You will comply with our Usage Policy, which provides detailed guidance on permitted and prohibited uses.

5. Inputs, Outputs, and Materials

You retain full ownership of all inputs you provide to MATONE, including crystal structures, simulation parameters, and any other materials data you upload.

You retain full ownership of all outputs generated through the platform from your inputs, including DFT results, band structures, analysis reports, and AI-generated recommendations. We claim no intellectual property rights over your research outputs.

We may collect anonymized, aggregated usage data — such as calculation types and performance metrics — to improve our services. This data cannot be traced back to specific users or research projects.

6. Subscriptions, Fees, and Payment

MATONE is currently provided free of charge: online payment is not yet enabled. When paid subscription tiers become available, they will offer different levels of access to AI features, computational resources and cloud compute, and fees will apply only if you choose to subscribe.

Once paid plans are available, cloud compute usage — including OCI instance provisioning and CPU/GPU hours — may be billed separately based on actual resource consumption, and prices will be shown before you are charged.

We will provide at least 30 days' written notice before implementing any changes to subscription pricing.

7. Third-Party Services

MATONE relies on third-party services, including Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (hosting and computation), Cloudflare (network delivery, security filtering and inbound email routing), Google (optional sign-in), an email delivery provider (account emails), public materials databases and OPTIMADE providers (materials data such as JARVIS, AFLOW, OQMD and Alexandria), AI model providers (SKT A.X-K2, the default model, and — when you choose them — K-EXAONE via FriendliAI, Upstage Solar and KT Mi:dm), and SKT speech recognition for Korean voice input. Your use of these services through our platform is subject to their respective terms of service.

8. Intellectual Property

The MATONE platform software, including the multi-agent framework, backend engines, analysis modules, and web interface, is our intellectual property.

Your research data, simulation results, and published findings remain your sole intellectual property. We encourage you to cite MATONE in publications where our platform contributed to your research.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

MATONE is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory.

Computational results produced by MATONE — including DFT energies, band gaps, and phonon frequencies — are theoretical estimates and should not be treated as absolute physical guarantees. Users are responsible for validating results against experimental data before relying on them.

10. Limitation of Liability

We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the platform, including loss of data, incorrect simulation results, or cloud compute costs.

In no event shall our total aggregate liability exceed the total fees paid by you during the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

11. Termination

You may terminate your account at any time. Upon termination, we will provide a reasonable period for you to export your data, after which your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms or our Usage Policy. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before or promptly after any such action.

12. General Provisions

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Korea.

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

13. Contact

If you have any questions about these Terms of Service, please contact us at support@matone.one.
